Annai Veilankanni’s College of Arts & Science recognises research as a vital component of higher education that enriches teaching, promotes innovation, and contributes to knowledge creation. Though the college does not function as a recognised research center, it actively encourages faculty members and students to engage in quality research activities. This Research Policy outlines the framework to promote, support, and monitor research initiatives within the institution.
I. Scope of the Research Policy
- Faculty members involved in teaching, research, and consultancy
- Faculty members undertaking independent or collaborative research
- Research activities undertaken by students under faculty guidance
- Knowledge creation through publications, seminars, workshops, and conferences
- Creative and innovative academic practices contributing to new knowledge
II. Objectives of the Research Policy
- To promote a research-oriented academic culture
- To encourage faculty members to balance teaching and research
- To support research publications and paper presentations
- To motivate interdisciplinary and collaborative research
- To encourage publication in peer-reviewed journals
III. Responsibilities of Faculty Members
- Publish at least one research article in peer-reviewed journals
- Guide students in minor research projects and seminars
- Maintain ethical standards in all research activities
- Participate in conferences, workshops, and FDPs
IV. Student Research Activities
- Encouragement to undertake minor research projects and surveys
- Faculty guidance for all student research initiatives
- Recognition of student publications and presentations
V. Research Ethics
- Plagiarism in any form shall not be tolerated
- Adherence to academic honesty, originality, and integrity
- Proper citation and acknowledgement of sources are mandatory
VI. Research Incentives
- Publication of books with ISBN
- Publication in peer-reviewed or indexed journals
