The History of Annai Veilankanni’s Educational

The Annai Veilankanni’s Educational and Cultural Society, Saidapet, Chennai–15, was founded by Dr. S. Devaraj in the year 1988 to cater to the educational needs of the student community in and around Chennai. The Society has established schools in Saidapet and Vandalur, and the school in Saidapet is recognized as one of the best schools in Chennai. The Management had been nurturing the vision for a long time to establish a college for students in Saidapet and suburban areas to enable them to pursue higher education in a conducive academic atmosphere. Consequently, Annai Veilankanni’s College was established on 18-09-2000 at Saidapet and was approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu vide G.O. No. 296 dated 10-07-2000, with affiliation granted by the University of Madras. The College offers a wide range of Undergraduate Programmes including Bachelor of Computer Applications, B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence, B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Com. General, B.Com. Accounting & Finance, B.Com. Corporate Secretaryship, B.Com. Information Systems Management, B.Com. Computer Applications, B.A. English, and B.B.A., along with Postgraduate Programmes in M.Com., M.Sc. Computer Science, M.Sc. Biochemistry, and MAHRM.

The mission of the institution is to empower women through quality education that enhances employability, improves the socio-economic status of learners through higher education, promotes self-reliance and economic independence, and inculcates democratic, moral, and spiritual values among students.

Aim of the College

The aim of the College is to prepare young women students to continuously seek truth, knowledge, and enlightenment, and to grow into mature and responsible citizens capable of facing the challenges of life at home, in society, and in the nation at large. When students leave the portals of the College, they are empowered to face life and overcome obstacles through faith in God. Without diluting its core values, the College strives to inculcate a sound philosophy of life based on deep faith in God, respect for oneself and others, concern for the less privileged, and the ideals expressed in the angelic proclamation, “Peace on earth and goodwill towards men”
