ANTI-DRUG COMMITTEE

The Anti-Drug Committee of Annai Velankanni’s College of Arts & Science actively promotes awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and works towards creating a drug-free, healthy, and disciplined campus. Through competitions, rallies, seminars, pledge programmes, and awareness campaigns, the committee encourages students to say “No to Drugs – Yes to Life.”

The committee also collaborates with health professionals and law enforcement agencies to educate students on prevention and rehabilitation. By fostering positive values and responsible behaviour, it supports the holistic development and well-being of students.

Anti-Drug Awareness Programme

The Anti-Drug Committee organized an Essay Writing and Poster Making Competition on the theme “Say No to Drugs – Yes to Life.” Students actively expressed their ideas on the ill effects of drug addiction and highlighted the importance of healthy living through creative and thoughtful presentations.
Drug Free Tamil Nadu – Essay Competition

The Anti-Drug Committee organized an Essay Competition on “Drug Free Tamil Nadu.” Students from various departments actively participated and expressed their ideas on building a society free from drug abuse.
Anti-Drug Awareness Video Screening
Date : 02.09.2025
Students were shown an awareness video highlighting the physical, mental, and social effects of drug addiction. The session encouraged students to make healthy life choices and support a safe, drug-free campus.
Anti-Drug Awareness Programme in College Assembly

An Anti-Drug Awareness Programme was conducted during the college assembly and addressed by the Principal. The session emphasized discipline, healthy living, and the importance of saying “No to Drugs.”
Anti-Drug – The Mass Pledge Event

As part of the statewide initiative “Drug Free Tamil Nadu Campus Challenge”, students showcased their awareness through dance, mime, and drawing competitions. A Mass Pledge was taken by students, staff, and management, committing to a healthy and drug-free life.
Anti-Drug Awareness Rally

A Drug Free Tamil Nadu Rally was organized near Saidapet with active participation from students and staff. The rally aimed to spread awareness among the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote a drug-free society.
Seminar on “Together for a Drug Free Generation”
Date : 23.09.2025
A seminar was conducted to create awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. Informative presentations explained how drugs affect the mind and body, motivating students to resist peer pressure and spread awareness.
