Leo Club

The Leo Club of Annai Veilankanni’s College of Arts & Science actively engages students in social, environmental, and community service initiatives. Through tree plantation drives, awareness campaigns, health camps, and skill development programs, the club nurtures leadership, teamwork, and empathy among its members.
The club encourages students to contribute positively to society while promoting discipline, civic responsibility, and sustainable practices.
By participating in diverse outreach activities, members become socially responsible citizens and ambassadors of change in the community.

Activities Conducted

Tree Plantation Drive
Date : 05.06.2025
The Yatha Green Council of India, in commemoration of World Environment Day, organized a tree plantation drive and inaugurated the Medavakkam Ecological Lake Forest at Medavakkam Government School Campus, Vellakal. The event was organized by the Leo Club, NSS, and Eco Club, and presided over by Dr. D. Dev Anand, Secretary, Annai Veilankanni’s Group of Educational Institutions. Special Guests included Mr Arya, Actor, Rtn. Mahaveer Bothra (District Governor RID-3233), Mrs Siva Booshanam Ravi (President, Medavakkam Panchayat), and Mr B. Ravi Avl (Former President, Medavakkam Panchayat). Students actively participated in planting saplings along the lake banks, promoting ecological awareness and sustainability.
Waste Segregation Awareness Campaign

The Greater Chennai Corporation organized a Waste Segregation Awareness Campaign to commemorate the Memorial Day of Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Dr. S. Devaraj, Founder Chairman, delivered the Presidential Address, and Dr. D. Dev Anand, Secretary, gave the Special Address. Students demonstrated segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and formed “AVC SEGREGATE WASTE” creatively. The campaign was coordinated with NSS, YRC, RRC, Eco Club, ED Cell, and Leo Club, promoting eco-friendly habits among students.
Mega Blood Donation Camp

Organized by the National Integrated Forum of Artists & Activists (NIFAA) and Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital, the Mega Blood Donation Camp was held at the College Auditorium. Dr. D. Dev Anand, Secretary, presided over the program, and Dr. J. Lavanya, Chief Guest, guided the blood donation procedures. Students, faculty, and Leo Club volunteers participated actively, contributing a significant number of blood units under professional supervision, supporting the noble cause of saving lives.
Mental Health and Eye Check-up Camp

The Lions Club of Madras Mylapore, along with the Leo Club, organized a Mental Health and Eye Check-up Camp on campus. Chief Guest PMJF Lion S. Bose, District Governor, and Guest of Honour Lion Dr. Shanthi Iyer, Yoga Coach, Chiropractor, and Ayurveda Therapist, graced the event. Dr. S. Devaraj, Founder Chairman, and Dr. D. Dev Anand, Secretary, presided. Free eye screenings, counseling sessions, yoga demonstrations, stress management exercises, and interactive awareness sessions were conducted, promoting mental health, emotional well-being, and eye care among students.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Outreach Program

The Leo Club organized an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Outreach Program for school students at Annai Veilankanni’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School. The session aimed to spark creativity, entrepreneurial thinking, problem-solving abilities, and leadership qualities among young minds through interactive sessions and activities.
Installation of Leo Club Office Bearers & Book Donation

The Lions Club of Madras, Mylapore, organized the Installation of Leo Club Office Bearers & Book Donation ceremony. The event was presided over by Dr. S. Devaraj, Founder Chairman, and Dr. D. Dev Anand, Secretary. Chief Guest PMJF Lion S. Bose, District Governor, delivered an inspiring address motivating students toward social responsibility, and PMJF Lion Rajkumar SV conferred titles on the office bearers. Students and faculty participated actively, emphasizing leadership and community service.
Beach Clean-up Program

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC) organized a Beach Clean-up Program at Besant Nagar Beach, Chennai, on International Coastal Cleaning Day. The initiative aimed to create awareness about marine conservation and sustainable coastal ecosystems. Students and staff actively participated, and all participants took a pledge to continue preserving the environment and protecting natural resources for future generations.
