The Departmental Leadership Conduct Policy defines the ethical and administrative responsibilities of Heads of Departments. The policy encourages inclusive leadership, accountability, and adherence to institutional goals. It supports the smooth functioning and continuous improvement of academic departments.

Roles and Responsibilities of HOD

  • Conduct all academic programmes of the Department as per the norms of the Affiliating University.
  • Formulate the Time-Table to provide adequate contact hours for syllabus completion, personality development programmes, and sports activities.
  • Train and update faculty to deliver high-quality instruction to students.
  • Ensure proper evaluation of student performance and implement remedial actions for slow learners.
  • Maintain harmonious relations between students and faculty while ensuring discipline and ethical behaviour of students.
  • Ensure all classes are held as per the time-table and make alternate arrangements for absent faculty.
  • Recommend disciplinary action against those taking leave without prior arrangements for class work.
  • Verify student attendance registers every weekend and forward monthly registers to the Principal.
  • Inspect classrooms and laboratories to ensure decorum and discipline as per the time-table.
  • Convene Faculty meetings twice a fortnight to review academic and R&D activities of the Department.
  • Arrange guest lectures in department-related specializations and maintain a list of eminent speakers.
  • Monitor students’ development and address problems through feedback and counseling.
  • Appoint faculty mentors to support students facing stress and peer pressure challenges.
